Past Work
Volcanic
Volcanic was designed as a staged spectacle with music timing, environmental motion, collectible waves, and meteor impacts. It feels like a live set-piece while still operating as a full gameplay event with rewards and cleanup.
Overview
Volcanic is a timeline-driven event built around audiovisual pacing. The environment rises on cue, collectible stars begin spawning, a meteor barrage takes over the arena, and the whole sequence finishes with a character-led cleanup moment.
Player Experience Highlights
- -Environment motion synchronized to the event timeline
- -Ongoing star spawns that players can collect for rewards
- -Meteor barrage that creates secondary collectible opportunities
- -Character-driven cleanup ending that gives the event a scripted finish
Technical Implementation
- -Uses timed event moments to coordinate environment, drops, meteors, and ending sequences
- -Spawns collectible stars with arc-based travel paths and expiration logic
- -Generates meteor-impact rewards by spawning secondary collectible chunks
- -Tweens models and parts along curves for more cinematic movement
- -Tracks active meteors and collectible state for cleanup and sync
- -Exposes snapshots for mid-event reconstruction on clients
- -Performs full end-of-event cleanup including environment reset and active object removal
Proof And Why It Matters
- -Good proof of music-timed event design and animation-driven gameplay
- -Shows controlled sequencing across map state, effects, collectibles, and cleanup
- -Demonstrates a polished blend of spectacle and systems engineering
