Why It Was Unusual

A core video-processing service no longer had usable source code, but the platform still depended on it for uploads, playlists, and telestration workflows.

Rebuild Approach

I traced how the application and APIs interacted with the missing service, rebuilt the behavior from that observed contract, and introduced queue-backed processing so jobs could be handled more safely.

01Trace existing behavior
->
02Reconstruct service contract
->
03Add RabbitMQ queues
->
04Process and prioritize jobs
->
05Recover automatically on failure

Operational Improvement

The rebuilt service was easier to reason about and safer to run because monitoring, prioritization, and recovery were designed in from the start.
